The Syrian regime has committed a violation of international humanitarian law through bombardment of such an indiscriminate and deliberate manner which does not distinguish between civilians and combatants, and which constitutes a war crime.
SNHR has documented hundreds of uses of cluster munitions against civilian areas by the Syrian regime’s forces, with these munitions continuing to pose a grave long-term threat to residents of these areas, particularly children, for many years to come. We have recorded hundreds of injuries caused by the explosion of the remnants of cluster munitions, and emphasize that the international community must intervene to protect civilians in Syria from these ongoing killing operations.
