(This update does not indicate that new killings have occurred in recent days, as the security situation has significantly calmed. Rather, it includes cases that primarily occurred between March 6 and 10, but we were unable to document them at the time due to immense challenges. Such challenges, which we detailed in our comprehensive report, included the inability to access or communicate with remote villages, the volatile security situation, and other difficulties. We have recently managed to reach areas that were previously inaccessible, and dozens of families have been able to contact us.)
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has documented the killing of 1,662 people from March 6, 2025, to the time of this writing, distributed as follows:
1. non-state armed groups linked to the former Assad regime killed at least 445 people, distributed as follows:
- 214 members of the General Security Forces
- 231 civilians
2. Armed groups involved in the security crackdown against the Assad regime remnants, including military factions, armed local residents — both Syrians and foreigners — and General Security personnel, killed at least 1,217 people, among them civilians and disarmed members of the regime remnants.
The vast majority of these victims were killed by military factions that recently joined the General Security Directorate.
Among the victims, we documented the killing of:
51 children
63 women
32 medical personnel
It is extremely difficult to distinguish between civilians and disarmed remnants of the Assad regime, as the latter were wearing civilian clothing.
Clarification:
This toll does not include members of the Assad regime remnants (non-state armed groups linked to the former Assad regime) who were killed during active clashes, as those deaths are not considered violations of the law.
