The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the killing...

On March 3, 2025, a man, identified as Hamid Ahmad Hassan from Aqiba village (administratively a part of Shirawa subdistrict) in the rural areas of Afrin city in northwestern rural Aleppo governorate, was killed, and his brother Mohammad was injured, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source near a water tank in Soughanka village in the rural areas of Afrin city. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
