On February 27, 2025, unidentified individuals stormed ‘Ikhwan al-Safa and Khellan al-Wafa’ Ismaeli religious shrine on the top of al-Mash-had al-Aali Mountain near Misyaf city in western rural Hama governorate. They opened fire at the shrine and vandalized its contents. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We condemn the desecration of the shrine, and call on the controlling forces to launch an investigation into the incident and hold those responsible to account.
