On February 25, 2025, three children; identified as Ali, Hammoudi, and Malek al-Mshilih from Ayyash village in western rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate, were killed and a fourth injured by a hand grenade that exploded while the children were playing with it in the badiya ‘desert area’ of al-Shula village in southern Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We also condemn the unchecked circulation of weapons among civilian populations with no restrictions or regulations. The controlling forces must contain and address this issue.
