Two siblings, identified as Qusai and Udai Ahmad al-Maksour from Um al-Amd village in western rural Hama governorate, were killed on February 6, 2025, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source near al-Rahjan town in eastern rural Hama governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
