On February 7, 2025, a man, identified as Nadim Abdul Karim al-Qasem from al-Ghadfa village in eastern rural Idlib governorate was killed, while another named Omar Abdul Karim al-Ismail was injured, by a landmine of unidentified source as the two were disarming landmines in Ethrya district in eastern rural Hama governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
