Roneza Mohammad al-Ali, a university student from Halnaj village to the south of Ein al-Arab city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, died on January 22, 2025, of wounds sustained the day before, January 21, 2025, in a drone attack suspected to be carried out by Turkish forces on a group of cars in the Tishreen Dam area in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The area targeted is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Turkish forces have violated international humanitarian law by killing civilians through this indiscriminate or deliberate bombardment, as they have failed to distinguish between civilians and fighters.
