On January 21, 2025, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a kamikaze drone to target Rasm al-Mastaha School, which shelters a number of internally displaced families, in Rasm al-Mastaha village to the southeast of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The attack injured four civilians.  The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, both of which call for ending indiscriminate attacks.
SDF has also violated international humanitarian law by failing to distinguish between civilians and fighters, causing mass panic among civilians.
