A man, identified as Khaled Karkour who was an electrical engineer working at the water procession unit in al-Khafsa town in eastern Aleppo governorate, died on January 20, 2025, of wounds sustained 13 days earlier, on January 7, 2025, in a kamikaze drone attack by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) on al-Khafsa town. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, both of which call for ending indiscriminate attacks.
SDF has also violated international humanitarian law by failing to distinguish between civilians and fighters, causing mass panic among civilians.
