A man, identified as 30-year-old Yamin Ahmad Askar from Jasim city in northern rural Daraa governorate, was shot and killed on January 4, 2025, amid a crossfire between two groups who previously were affiliated with Assad regime forces while he was passing through the vicinity of al-Sanamayn city in northern Daraa governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Yamin is a civilian who had never been involved with any military formation.
SNHR has not yet been able to determine which of the two groups are responsible for Yamin’s death as of this writing. The controlling forces must uphold their responsibilities in holding the perpetrators accountable.
