On January 1, 2025, the body of a man, identified as Fawwaz Turki al-Shabib from Hyaleen town in western rural Hama governorate, was found bearing gunshot wounds by local residents in an agricultural land in Kafrzita city in northern rural Hama governorate. Fawwaz’s body was found after he had been abducted by unidentified gunmen in Hyaleen town two days earlier, December 30, 2024. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
