On December 22, 2024, the body of a man, identified as Hassan Jamil al-Shartah from Kafrouma village in southern rural Idlib governorate, was found by local residents in Jabal Kafrouma district near Kafrouma village. Hassan’s body was found after he had gone missing five days earlier. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify which party is responsible for Hassan’s death as of this writing. The controlling forces must uphold their responsibilities in identifying his killers.
