On December 9, 2024, five civilians were killed, with others injured, amid clashes between Arab tribes forces and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Maskana town and its rural areas in eastern Aleppo governorate. SDF personnel first attacked civilians’ properties, which ensued clashes as Arab tribes forces tried to defend their properties. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas, investigate this incident, and make the findings available to the public.
