A teacher, identified as Samir Munir Hnethil from Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, was killed on December 8, 2024, by a gunfire of unidentified source near the al-Kitab Roundabout on the western outskirts of Manbij city amid clashes between the Syrian National Army (SNA) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The area is under the control of SDF.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify which party is responsible for Samir’s death. The controlling forces bear must uphold their responsibilities in identifying his killers.
