A girl, identified as nine-year-old Hend Saleh Ali al-Madid, was killed, while her parents injured, on June 29, 2024, in their home village of al-Bghiliya village in western rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel who were stationed on the other other side of the Euphrates River opposite the family. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the SDF has, through this act of killing, has violated again international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
