On June 9, 2024, the two bodies of a man, identified as 46-year-old Jalal Nour al-Din Mqalled from Rami village in eastern Suwayda governorate, and a woman, identified as Sahir Faisal Mershed from Harran village in western Suwayda governorate, were found by local residents bearing signs on their neck indicating that they were strangled by local residents in a car in Thahr al-Jabal area in eastern Suwayda governorate. The two bodies were found after Jalal and Sahir had gone missing one day earlier. The area is under the control of Syrian regime forces.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that the two are civilians who had never been involved with any military formations.
SNHR has not yet been able to identify their killers as of this writing, with the controlling forces bearing responsibility for identifying their killers.
