On March 31, 2024, four civilians (two children, one woman and her unborn baby), were killed, while initial estimates suggest that another five, including one child, were injured, by the explosion of a car bomb of as yet unidentified source in the center of the densely crowded Izaz city in northern rural Aleppo governorate. The massive explosion also caused extensive damage to 27 shops and four houses in the vicinity, as well as a number of cars and motorbikes. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.

SNHR condemns all bombings targeting civilians and vital facilities. We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities for protecting civilians in their areas, to investigate this incident, and to make the findings of the investigation known to the public. Syria will never have true stability without a genuine political transition process towards democracy within a fixed timetable.
