A 25-year-old man, identified as Awwad Ali al-Anaz, was shot dead on November 9, 2023, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel in al-Andahi village in northern Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The personnel opened fire indiscriminately at civilians’ homes, killing Awwad in the process. The area is under the control of the SDF.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
