A man, identified as Mohammad Ali al-Hassan al-Kiyari, was shot dead on November 3, 2023, by a regime sniper while picking olives in his agricultural land in his home village of Abu al-Zandin in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. While the area is under the control of armed opposition factions and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), it is of close proximity with regime-held areas.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that through this killing, Syrian regime forces have again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
