A man, identified as Sami Khlief al-Wakka’, was shot dead on November 1, 2023, by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel in al-Qouriya village in eastern rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate, when SDF members stationed on the opposite bank of the river in an SDF-held areas opened fired indiscriminately at the other side, which is controlled by the Syrian regime, killing Sami, a civilian.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law. The perpetrators must be held accountable.
