A man, identified as Abdul Razzaq Mahmoud al-Hamad al-Housh, died on September 28, 2023, of wounds sustained two days earlier on September 26, 2023, when a mortar shell hit al-Ta’as neighborhood in al-Qouriya city in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The bombardment took place amidst ongoing clashes between the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Arab tribes that have swept the villages and cities of Deir Ez-Zour governorate since August 29, 2023.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not been able to identify the party responsible for Abdul Razzaq’s death as of this writing. The warring forces bear responsibility to identify his killers. It should be noted that the clashes are still going on as of this writing, with more deaths and injuries occurring.

SNHR condemns all killings and violations no matter which party is responsible. We call for bringing an immediate end to the fighting to ensure the safety of civilians in the area, and to prevent any further damage to civilian objects.
