A 15-year-old boy, identified as Raed Mohamamd al-Zaid, was killed on August 31, 2023, in an attack by an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly known as a drone, operated by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that targeted Jedid Bakkara town in eastern Deir Ez-Zour governorate.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that this incident comes amid ongoing clashes between the SDF and Deir Ez-Zour Military Council backed by Arab tribes, which broke out on August 29, 2023.

SNHR condemns all killings no matter which party is responsible. We call for bringing an immediate end to the fighting to ensure the safety of civilians in the area, and to prevent any further damage to civilian objects.
