On March 17, 2023, the body of Abdullah Faisal Badwi al-Shehan, from al-Qouriya city in eastern Deir Ez-Zour, was found by local residents near the irrigation canal running through the city with signs of torture on his body.
The city is under the control of Syrian regime forces. The Syrian Network for Human Rights has not been able to identify the party responsible for Abdullah’s death as of this writing, with the controlling forces bearing responsibility to identify the killers.
