On March 4, 2023, local residents found the horrifically mutilated body of a 57-year-old woman identified as Najah Ishaq Kan’ou, in her home in al-Qdaa Street in the al-Muraba’ al-Amni area of Hasaka governorate. She had been handcuffed, with her body bearing stab wounds and signs of torture, a while her skull had been shattered, and her face so severely mutilated that her features were unrecognizable

The city is under the control of Syrian regime forces. While the Syrian Network for Human Rights has not been able to identify the party behind this crime, the controlling forces bear responsibility for identifying the perpetrators.
