Alif Mohammad Othman, a girl born in 2007 from Hleil village, administratively affiliated with Nahiyat Rajo in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, who lives in Tal Ref’at city in the northern suburbs of Aleppo governorate, was abducted for military conscription on January 7, 2023 by the Syrian Democratic Forces’ al-Shabiba al-Thawriya, (Revolutionary Youth) faction, also known as the ‘Joanne Schurchkar’, while on her way to school in Tal Ref’at city. She was taken to an SDF recruitment center.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights notes that her family has not been notified of what had happened to her, and she has not been allowed to contact or visit them. We have concerns that she will be forced into direct and indirect military action.

It should be noted that roughly 213 children are currently conscripted in SDF military training camps.
