Abd Hussein al-Jader, from Ghranij city in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate, was shot dead on December 29, 2022 by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) personnel stationed at an SDF checkpoint in Haji city, in the eastern suburbs of Deir Ez-Zour governorate. According to the SDF’s account of the incident, Abd Hussein was shot because he was “standing near the checkpoint”.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights notes that, through this killing, the SDF has again violated international human rights law, and emphasizes that the perpetrators must be held accountable.
