On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, local residents found two dead bodies (the siblings Izdishir and Mohammad Suliman al-Salloum) with gunshot wounds in the chest in al Kathemiya village in the eastern suburbs of Homs Governorate. The two victims are from al Muhajireen Neighborhood in Homs City and work as sheep tradesmen. The village where they were found is under the control of the transitional government.

According to what SNHR was able to document through reliable local sources, the two brothers were abducted near the al-Makhal Gas Station in Deir B’alba neighborhood IN Homs City, while returning from the sheep market to their home in al-Muhajireen Neighborhood, hours before their bodies were found. The sources stated that the abduction was carried out by an armed group driving a tan-colored pickup truck.

SNHR is still investigating this incident and collecting more information. As of this writing, the perpetrators are still unidentified.

SNHR calls on the transitional government to uphold its legal and moral responsibility to protect civilians in their areas, and to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident in order to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable.
