On Saturday, April 26, 2025, the dead body of a man, identified as 26-year-old Mohammad Yousef al-Qabqli from Wadi al-Thahab neighborhood in Homs city, was found bearing gunshot wounds in the head in al-Bassil Hospital in al-Zahra neighborhood in Homs city.
According to information obtained by the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) from reliable local sources, Mohammad, who worked as a teacher in the vocational school in Homs, two days earlier, Thursday, April 24, 2025, while he was returning to his house near the Teachers Residence on his motorcycle.
SNHR is still investigating this incident and collecting more information. As of this writing, the perpetrators are still unidentified.
SNHR calls on the transitional government to uphold its legal and moral responsibility to protect civilians in their areas, and to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident in order to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable.
