On April 25, 2025, the dead body of a man, identified as Mohammad Saeed al-Wa’ri from Karm al-Luz neighborhood in Homs city who was born in 2001, was found bearing gunshot wounds by local residents near al-Nahda Association in al-Zahra neighborhood in Homs city. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

According to information obtained by the Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) from reliable local sources, a group of four unidentified gunmen who claimed to be with the General Security abducted Mohammad, who was a student at the food engineering department in Homs University, from his house in Karm al-Luz a few hours before his dead body was found.

SNHR is still investigating this incident and collecting more information. As of this writing, the perpetrators are still unidentified.

SNHR calls on the transitional government to uphold its legal and moral responsibility to protect civilians in their areas, and to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation into the incident in order to identify and hold the perpetrators accountable.
