Three children; identified as Maha, Mohammad and Sumayya Mtair from Hasaka governorate who lived in Kherbt Ghazala town in eastern rural Daraa governorate; were killed on March 18, 2025, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source in the vicinity of Kherbt Ghazala town. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
