On March 15, 2025, a rocket remnant of war of unidentified source exploded inside a junk shop in a four-story building in Latakia city’s al-Raml al-Janoubi neighborhood. The blast killed 16 civilians, including five women and five children, while 18 others, including six children, were injured. The explosion also heavily destroyed the building and damaged nearby buildings. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas.
