The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the killing...

On March 9, 2025, a woman and a girl, respectively identified as Zaynab Mahmoud and Feryal Nawwaf Mahmoud both from al-Ankawi village in western rural Hama governorate, were killed, and three children were injured, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source in the vicinity of al-Ankawi village. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
