On March 5, 2025, a boy identified as 10-year-old Hamid Tawfiq al-Jasim from Ras Ein al-Hamr to the south of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, was killed, and his nine-year-old brother Fayyad was injured, by a landmine of unidentified source that exploded while the two were playing with it in Mazra’et al-Salama (administratively a part of Ras Ein al-Hamr village). The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
