The Syrian Network for Human Rights documented the killing...

On February 20, 2025, two men, identified as Jasim al-Jdea’ al-Shmilani al-Fad’ani and Mesh’al Hamed al-Jdea’ al-Shmilani al-Fad’ani both from al-Mustariha village in northern rural Raqqa governorate, were killed, and a third, identified as Hamed al-Jdea’ al-Shmilani al-Fad’ani, was injured, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source in the badiya ‘desert area’ in southern Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
