On February 17, 2025, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) fired multiple rockets at al-Khafsa town in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. One of the rockets struck al-Farouq Mosque in the middle of the town, partially destroying its building and moderately damaging its interior furnishing. The area targeted is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) condemns the attack on al-Farouq Mosque. We hold SDF responsible for what happened, and call for launching an investigation to hold the perpetrators accountable.
