On February 15, 2025, the dead body of a man, identified as Emad Suleiman Mtawwaj from Baksa village in northwestern rural Latakia governorate who worked as a sanitation worker, was found cut into parts and buried in an agricultural land on the outskirts of Baksa village. Emad had gone missing two days earlier. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify who is responsible for Emad’s death as of this writing. The controlling forces must uphold their responsibilities in identifying his killers.
