On February 15, 2025, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a rocket launcher to fire multiple rockets at al-Khafsa town in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The attack killed one local woman, identified as Halima Ibrahim al-Hamid, and injured six civilians (all women and girls). One of the rockets also struck al-Westani Mosque partially destroyed its building and damaging its interior furnishing. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and fighters, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
