On February 9, 2025, unidentified gunmen stopped two men, identified as Raed al-Hmoud and Wael al-Abdullah both from al-Tha’la town in western rural Suwayda governorate, in western al-Tha’la town, and shot them to kill Raed and injure Wael. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The unidentified gunmen also stole a motorbike, two hunting weapons, and personal belongings from the two.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas, investigate this incident, and make the findings available to the public.
