On January 30, 2025, two men, identified as Adnan Hassan al-Mhemid al-Hayek and Yasser Faisal al- Ahmad, were killed, while six others were injured, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source in Jub Abyad village to the east of Deir Hafer town in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
