Two boy siblings, identified as nine-year-old Walid and five-year-old Shehab Ahmad al-Saraqbi from Douma village in al-Hamra subdistrict in eastern rural Hama governorate, were killed on January 29, 2025, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source in an agricultural land near Douma village. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
SNHR calls on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas and identify the locations of landmines and remove them. We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
