On January 27, 2025, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a rocket launcher to fire multiple rockets at Rasm al-Harmal village, administratively a part of Deir Hafer city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, killing three civilians, including two women, with others injured. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and fighters, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
