On January 23, 2025, unidentified individuals desecrate the shrine of Salman al-Rawwas, an Alawite symbol, in Mjaidel village in western rural Homs governorate. The shrine’s building and contents were moderately damaged. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We condemn the desecration of the shrine, and call on the controlling forces to launch an investigation into the incident and hold those responsible to account.
