On January 23, 2025, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a rocket launcher to fire multiple rockets at Jarablos city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. The rockets struck al-Tanak Camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and the National Stadium, injuring seven civilians, including two children. A number of temporary IDP housing units and residential buildings were also partially destroyed. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and fighters, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
