On January 18, 2025, the dead bodies of two men, identified as Ja’far al-Hayek and Wael Ibrahim both from al-D’tour neighborhood in Latakia city, were found in Damsarkhou subdistrict in northern Latakia governorate. The two dead bodies were found a few days after Ja’far and Wael were abducted by unidentified gunmen. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has not yet been able to identify Ja’far’s and Wael’s killers as of this writing. The controlling forces must uphold their responsibilities in finding their killers.
