On January 8, 2025, the body of a man, identified as Fasih Kenan al-Khaled from Saraqeb city in eastern rural Idlib governorate, was found bearing gunshot wounds by local residents in an agricultural land near Ma’aret Misreen town in northern rural Idlib governorate. The area is under the control of the current transitional authorities in Syria.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that Fasih is a civilian who is not affiliated with any military formation.
SNHR has not yet been able to identify which party is responsible for Fasih’s death as of this writing. The controlling forces must uphold their responsibilities in identifying his killers.
