On January 8, 2025, an explosion of unidentified cause (but suspected to be caused by a landmine) hit a car on the public road near Tishreen Dam in the rural areas of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate. One man and one woman, identified respectively as Azad Farhan Mohammad Hassan and Karam Ahmad Shehab, were killed in the explosion, while 15 others were injured, in an initial estimate. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We call on the controlling forces to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians in their areas, investigate this incident, and make the findings available to the public.
