On January 5, 2025, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a kamikaze drone to target the outskirts of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, injuring media worker Ayham al-Bayyoush from Kafranbel city in southern rural Idlib governorate, while he was covering the situation on the ground. The area is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, both of which call for ending indiscriminate attacks.
SDF has also violated international humanitarian law by failing to distinguish between civilians and fighters, causing mass panic among civilians.
