Three children were injured on January 3, 2025, by the explosion of a landmine of unidentified source in Khasham town in eastern rural Deir Ez-Zour governorate. The children were transferred to Hasaka governorate for treatment. The area is under the control of Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) is still trying to locate eyewitnesses to obtain more information about the incident.
We have recorded hundreds of deaths and injuries from landmine explosions. Landmines pose a serious threat to civilians’ lives for years to come in these areas, particularly children.
