On December 20, 2024, Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) used a rocket launcher to fire a rocket that landed on Mustafa al-Hamada village to the southeast of Manbij city in eastern rural Aleppo governorate, killing one local man, identified as Fayez Hussein al-Kasmou, when the rocket landed in front of his house. The area targeted is under the control of the Syrian National Army (SNA).
The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) notes that, through this attack, SDF has unequivocally violated UN Security Council resolutions 2139 and 2254, which prohibit indiscriminate attacks.
The SDF has also violated the rules of international humanitarian law on distinguishing between civilians and fighters, which only aims to spread panic among civilians.
